Aimee Johnson MD, IBCLC

Aimee Johnson, MD was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, MI, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology.  

She studied abroad and completed an environmental science program.  Aimee attended Wayne State University, School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at The Children's Hospital of Michigan, one of the oldest residency training programs in the country.  

While completeing her residency she developed an interest in health promotion and disease prevention to the most under-served children in inner city Detroit.  She worked for two years after residency in a blue-collar suburb of Detroit.  Amiee then returned to Children's Hospital of Michigan as an Assistant Professor of  Pediatrics for the Wayne State School of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Hamtramck Community School Clinic. 

Aimee has special interests in teaching and community medicine, specifically under-served and under represented groups. She is an International Board Certification Lactation Consultant or IBCLC. Additionally, her clinical interests are Mother/Baby diad, breastfeeding promotion and education, school readiness, learning and behavior.    

Aimee has 2 young children and a wonderful husband.  They enjoy many outdoor actives including biking, swimming and nature walks.
